To celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, which fell on June 3 this year, and promote the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, the School of Civil Engineering (SCE) organized an interactive labor experience activity in Jinxinyuan of Xipu Campus on May 27. The activity, hosted by Mr. Yu Yangzhou and the catering staff of the Logistics Office, consisted of three parts: introducing the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival, teaching how to make zongzi, and practicing wrapping zongzi together.

Before the start of the activity, the students came to the site, and teachers and chefs had prepared the materials to wrap zongzi. During the activity, the chefs first told the students about the origin of the custom of wrapping zongzi at the Dragon Boat Festival, and then taught them how to make zongzi step by step. And they all posed for group photos.

During the process of wrapping zongzi, several chefs enthusiastically helped the students and answered their questions, so that each student learned the methods of wrapping zongzi and experienced the fun of making zongzi. The students also helped each other to complete the work together. Every student eventually learned how to wrap zongzi. And some of them received praise from chefs for the neat and beautiful appearance of their zongzi.

At the end of the activity, Mr. Yu Yangzhou and the chefs prepared two zongzi for each student to thank for their participation. Through this activity, the students not only learned how to wrap zongzi but also deepened their understanding of the Dragon Boat Festival.
